Tolling delay on I-5 bridge could mean higher rates for Washington and Oregon drivers
Tolling on the Interstate 5 bridge across the Columbia River will begin in summer 2027, a year later than planned, potentially resulting in higher rates for drivers. Transportation commissioners from Washington and Oregon propose maintaining initial toll rates but increasing them in subsequent years to offset lost revenue. The project, expected to cost between $5 billion and $7.5 billion, aims to fund a replacement bridge that could open by 2032 or 2033.
