In Days Gone By Who was Leonard Luder Lund, really?

Leonard “Luder” Lund, a World War II veteran and executive at Union Oil, had deep roots in Edmonds, Washington. He graduated from Edmonds High School in 1923 and joined Union Oil shortly after it announced plans for a new substation in 1924. Lund enlisted in the U. S. Army following the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and served honorably until the war concluded.

Upon returning to Union Oil, he quickly advanced to become plant manager by 1950, overseeing the roofing asphalt division. He lived in his family home until his death in 1972, where he had resided with his mother until her passing in 1956. Lund's life reflects the contributions of local families to the community's development and history. The Kallstrom and Lund families were intertwined, having settled in Edmonds in the early 1900s. This narrative highlights the impact of individual lives on the collective memory of the town.
