North Thurston Public Schools celebrated educators who embody the district's theme of "Joy of Learning" for the 2024-25 school year. The initiative recognizes staff members who inspire joy and engagement in their students. Ken Tanner, a PE teacher, shared anecdotes about students mastering skills and the laughter that accompanied their learning experiences. Crystal Magill, a K-3 resource teacher, emphasized the significance of making learning fun and engaging while building connections. Megan Nilsson-Doster, a multilingual learner teacher, highlighted the joy found in co-creating learning experiences with students.

Transportation specialist Aaron Gore pointed out that joy in learning includes meaningful interactions that motivate students to participate. This celebration underscores the district's commitment to creating a supportive and engaging educational environment. By focusing on joy, NTPS promotes a holistic approach to student success.

A series of explosions on February 20, 1936, damaged the Olympia Milk Producers’ Association plant and destroyed the Sanitary Dairy in Olympia. Investigators determined that dynamite was used, but the perpetrators were never caught. Total losses from the blasts were estimated at $40,000.
