The Tenino Agriculture Innovation Park, a project initiated by the Thurston Economic Development Council, is dedicated to promoting local agricultural entrepreneurship and is currently undergoing expansion. Spanning 15 acres, the park features business space, an event center, and resources specifically designed for food-related businesses. A recent celebration included key partners like the City of Tenino and Washington State University, illustrating the collaborative efforts driving the park's growth. Thurston County Commissioner Wayne Fournier praised the park's focus on agriculture and food sovereignty, highlighting its role in enhancing regional economic resilience. Current tenants, including Colvin Ranch, have benefitted from the park's infrastructure and support from the EDC.

Jennifer Colvin expressed her excitement about the park's potential as a hub for locally produced food. The park is actively seeking new tenants and exploring the feasibility of adding a small-scale meat processing facility to address local ranchers' needs. This strategic initiative aims to overcome existing barriers in the agricultural sector and enhance local food systems.

Olympia Milk Plants Bombed, 1936

A series of explosions on February 20, 1936, damaged the Olympia Milk Producers’ Association plant and destroyed the Sanitary Dairy in Olympia. Investigators determined that dynamite was used, but the perpetrators were never caught. Total losses from the blasts were estimated at $40,000.
