North Thurston Public Schools (NTPS) offers a preschool program designed for 3- and 4-year-olds, promoting an inclusive environment for children with special needs and their typically developing peers. The program uses an integrated, play-based approach to foster crucial social and academic skills necessary for future success in kindergarten. Tuition for families with typically developing children is $165 per month for a two-day-a-week schedule and $280 for four days a week. Children with identified special needs do not incur tuition costs. Dr.

Dianne Heckman, NTPS Director of Early Learning, emphasizes the benefits of this model, stating it aids all students in developing essential skills.
