5k reward offered for information in Seattle hit-and-run death

Olympia, WALocal News

Richard John 'Ole' Ward, a vibrant 39-year-old, was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Ballard, Seattle, on February 1, prompting his family to collaborate with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound to offer a $5,000 reward for information. Witnesses described the suspect's vehicle as a dark GMC Sierra truck, which sustained front-end damage. A neighbor witnessed the crash and noted that the driver briefly exited the truck to check on Ole, who was severely injured, before leaving the scene. Ole's mother, Sue Ward, has been vocal about her grief and her determination to find the driver responsible for her son's death. She has reached out to the community, hoping that someone might provide critical information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case.

Despite the absence of traffic camera footage, the family remains optimistic about generating leads through community awareness efforts. Sue expressed gratitude towards a Good Samaritan who tried to protect Ole after the accident and is eager to learn more about him. The family is committed to pursuing justice for Ole, who was described as charismatic and adventurous.
