The Olympia High School girls fastpitch team commenced the WIAA 2025 spring sports season with a commanding 12-2 victory over Tumwater High School on March 14, 2025. Senior Ava Bautista was the star of the game, allowing just one run and striking out five batters in six innings of play. The Bears demonstrated offensive prowess with 15 hits and four home runs, showcasing Bautista's power as she hit three of those home runs herself. Coach Drew Wellner expressed enthusiasm about the team's strong chemistry and the leadership provided by seniors, aiming for progression throughout the season. Meanwhile, Tumwater's new head coach, Shaunié Kennedy, is focused on instilling confidence in her younger players as they adapt to new strategies.

Despite the loss, Kennedy emphasized the importance of learning from non-league games.
