Mason Healths Diagnostic Imaging Department Plans to Debut New High Field Open MRI Later This Year

Olympia, WALocal News

Mason Health’s Diagnostic Imaging Department is undergoing a comprehensive remodel that will introduce a new high-field open MRI machine by late 2025, replacing the current unit designated as “end of life. ” This upgrade is vital for continuing to provide quality imaging services to Mason County patients, addressing both chronic and acute health conditions. According to Shane Faford, the director of diagnostic imaging, the open design of the new MRI will maintain patient comfort and accessibility, which is crucial for those who experience claustrophobia with traditional models. The renovations will also expand facilities for cardiology-related tests, such as cardiac stress tests and echocardiograms, as part of Mason Health's Capital Master Plan. The community has shown strong support for this initiative through fundraising efforts, emphasizing the importance of local engagement in healthcare improvements.

The OASIS Velocity High-Field Open MRI promises to enhance diagnostic capabilities while ensuring reliable service in the future. With approximately 2,000 visits to the open MRI each year, this upgrade is significant for both local residents and those traveling from nearby areas. The commitment to compassionate care remains a cornerstone of Mason Health's mission as they prepare for this important enhancement.
