Tumwater High School Football Team Volunteers to Help Local Family

Olympia, WALocal News

The Briscoe family has endured a challenging period due to a series of unfortunate events, including a plumbing flood and a devastating house fire, compounded by health issues affecting family members. After receiving approval to move back into their refurbished home in Tumwater, they faced the daunting task of relocating their belongings from storage. Coach Willie Garrow of the Tumwater High School football team quickly mobilized his players to assist, demonstrating the team's commitment to community service and support. On Martin Luther King Day, a dedicated group of seniors and volunteers from the team showed up to help with the move, effectively alleviating the family's burden. The collective efforts not only saved the Briscoe family approximately $4,200 in expenses but also reinforced the importance of community and teamwork.

Eden Briscoe expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the players' kindness, noting that they did not seek any compensation for their work. This story exemplifies the values of leadership and selflessness fostered within the Tumwater football program. The Briscoes, who lack generational ties to the area, found solace in the overwhelming support from their local community.
