Mission Nonprofit Spotlight Thurston County Inclusion

Olympia, WALocal News

Thurston County Inclusion, a local nonprofit established in 2019, focuses on engaging youth with and without intellectual disabilities through a variety of programs and events. Executive Director Samantha Ezpinoza emphasizes the importance of community involvement and inclusion, discussing the nonprofit's mission to provide free events that foster engagement and support for local youth. Each month, the organization hosts two to three events, culminating in a special fundraising event called the Runway Revolution on March 15, where models known as "inclusion ambassadors" will showcase their stories of inclusion. The nonprofit began as a unified club at Olympia High School, initiated by a student who recognized the need for summer camp opportunities for youth with developmental disabilities. Registration for the summer camp opens in May, featuring weekly themes and one-on-one support for participants.

All events are free, made possible by donations, grants, and volunteers who are always welcome to join. More information can be found on the Thurston County Inclusion website. This initiative represents a significant step toward building a more inclusive community for all youth.
