Washington State Microenterprise Association Awards 2 Million to 46 Nonprofit Organizations Serving the Smallest Businesses in Washington State.

Olympia, WALocal News

The Washington State Microenterprise Association (WSMA) has announced a significant investment of $2 million in grants to support 46 nonprofit organizations across Washington, focusing on small businesses with five or fewer employees. This funding, made possible by the Washington State Department of Commerce, aims to provide essential business training, technical assistance, and improved access to financing for entrepreneurs in historically marginalized communities. Over its 20-year history, WSMA has successfully strengthened Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESOs) through various initiatives, including grants and resource coordination via Evergreen BizLink. The current grant cycle will benefit diverse sectors such as agriculture, technology, and the creative economy, fostering innovation and economic growth. WSMA's efforts are designed to promote social inclusion and sustainability, enhancing the capacity of over 150 ESOs to serve local entrepreneurs effectively.

This initiative reflects a commitment to empowering BIPOC, veterans, and other underrepresented groups in the business community. For further inquiries, individuals can reach out to WSMA Executive Director Lisa Smith for more information about the program and its impact. The funding not only provides resources but also builds a supportive network for small business development throughout the region.
