Stolen mail recovered after Olympia police arrest 2. Heres what happened

Olympia, WALocal News

Olympia police made two significant arrests last month, resulting in the recovery of stolen mail and personal items linked to ongoing mail theft in the area. The first incident occurred on January 24, 2025, when officers responded to a trespassing report and apprehended a man with an outstanding warrant, finding 18 pieces of allegedly stolen mail in his backpack. Four days later, police were called to a domestic violence situation, where they arrested another man and discovered 17 pieces of mail, eight bank cards, and identification cards in his girlfriend's possession. The names on the recovered items did not match those of the suspects, prompting an investigation into their origins. Authorities are striving to confirm the theft of these items and reach out to the affected individuals.

With recent reports of mailbox break-ins on Goldcrest Drive, police emphasize the importance of vigilance among residents. They have provided practical tips to help safeguard against mail theft, including checking mailboxes frequently and reporting suspicious activity. This ongoing issue underscores the need for community awareness and proactive measures to prevent mail-related crimes.
