Donors whip up a better holiday season for Seattle bakery after theft

Olympia, WALocal News

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Lovely and Dapper Desserts, a family-owned mobile bakery in West Seattle, received significant support after their essential vehicle was stolen just before the holiday season. The theft of their 2006 Chevy Tahoe threatened their business, but two anonymous donors stepped in after seeing their plight covered by FOX 13. The newly donated SUV allowed the Crains to transport 8–9 totes of desserts to various holiday markets, overcoming the challenges of a sluggish retail season. Drew Crain emphasized the vehicle's importance, stating it was “tough, powerful, and strong,” enabling them to reach customers in snowy conditions. With plans to open a brick-and-mortar location in Olympia, the couple is also fundraising online to support their new venture.

They express deep gratitude for the community's generosity, which has played a vital role in their journey. The Crain family hopes to host local markets featuring other small businesses alongside their bakery offerings. This inspiring story serves as a reminder of the resilience found in community support during tough times.
