Olympia, WALocal News

Olympia Arts, Parks and Recreation is actively promoting outdoor winter activities to combat the winter blues and encourage community engagement. One of the standout offerings is the Oly on Ice skating rink, which has quickly become a beloved local tradition and will remain open until January 20. Kati Sagawa from South Puget Sound Community College praises the rink for providing a unique winter experience that many residents cherish, especially as opportunities for ice skating are rare in the area. The skating rink not only serves as entertainment but also hosts special events, such as sensory-friendly sessions on Sundays and Mondays, catering to diverse community needs. Additionally, themed nights, like the upcoming Latin Caribbean Night on January 17, add a festive atmosphere to the winter activities.

The range of programs offered promotes health and wellness while fostering connections among community members. With options for all ages, residents are encouraged to explore the various activities available this winter. Olympia's commitment to recreational programs reflects its dedication to enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
