Thurston County Hosts Zoom Listening Session for Any Parent in Thurston County Who Has Welcomed a New Baby Since 2020

Olympia, WALocal News

Thurston County is hosting a Zoom listening session on February 21, 2025, for parents who have welcomed a new baby since 2020, aimed at discussing their experiences and improving local support systems. This initiative is part of the efforts by the Thurston County Perinatal Mental Health (TCPMH) Task Force, which provides a platform for open dialogue among new parents. The session will be co-facilitated by Amanda Houle, a community health nurse, and Alicia Ferris, a local therapist specializing in reproductive mental health. Key discussion points will include accessing community resources and creating an ideal support network for new parents in the area. Parents can share unique challenges they faced during the pandemic and identify what types of social support have been most beneficial.

The insights collected during this session will help guide the TCPMH Task Force’s objectives and enhance parent support groups in 2025. Notably, the session will not be recorded, ensuring a safe space for open conversation. Parents interested in participating can find more information on the Thurston County website.
