City of Olympia Wants Public Input for Off-Leash Dog Parks and Mountain Bike Trails

Olympia, WALocal News

The City of Olympia is addressing the growing demand for off-leash dog areas by proposing three potential sites in the local park system. A public open house will be held on April 1, 2019, at Olympia City Hall for residents to share their insights on these locations: Evergreen Park, Ward Lake Park, and a site next to McLane Elementary. This initiative reflects the city's commitment to enhancing community engagement and recreational facilities. Simultaneously, the Olympia Parks Department is planning to construct dedicated mountain bike trails at Kaiser Woods Park, the first of its kind in the city's parks. Community members who cannot attend the open house can still participate in a survey available online from March 21 to April 15.

The survey will gather feedback on the proposed dog areas and allow participants to suggest names for the new bike park. Both projects aim to enrich the recreational landscape of Olympia and promote an active lifestyle among residents.
