The accident happened around 11:55 p. m. when a westbound driver saw the man standing in the road but could not stop in time to avoid hitting him. The impact of the first collision sent the man into a second lane, where he was hit by another vehicle.

Emergency services rushed the man to Providence St. Peter Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Both drivers involved remained at the scene, fully cooperating with police investigations, and neither showed signs of impairment.
