Western Washington to Experience Wet Christmas with Multiple Atmospheric Rivers

Olympia, WALocal News

Western Washington is bracing for a wet Christmas as multiple atmospheric river systems are set to impact the region, bringing heavy rainfall and breezy winds. The National Weather Service predicts that the first front will arrive on Christmas afternoon, with additional systems continuing through Wednesday night. While these systems are not expected to be as severe as previous ones, winds in Tacoma and Olympia could reach 30 to 40 miles per hour, and rainfall amounts are anticipated to be between 2 to 3 inches by Friday afternoon. Temperatures will remain slightly above average, ranging from the upper 40s on Christmas to the 50s later in the week. Travelers in the mountains are advised to monitor snowfall forecasts closely due to rapidly changing conditions.

Residents should prepare for wet and windy weather that may disrupt holiday plans.
