Rachel Grant was sworn in as the new Thurston County Commissioner for District 2, succeeding Gary Edwards, who has retired after a long period of service. Previously running under the name Dreon, she acknowledged the significance of her new name following her marriage to Jeff. During her address, Grant emphasized the importance of collaboration among commissioners, stating that teamwork would be her priority. Alongside her, incumbents Wayne Fournier and Carolina Mejia were also sworn in after winning re-election. Grant's personal life has been affected by her son’s leukemia diagnosis, a challenge she aims to navigate while ensuring constituents are aware of her situation.
