On December 11, 2024, a city-wide search was initiated in Olympia for two 11-year-old boys, Allen Leman and Drake Coop, who ran away from Hansen Elementary School. The police were alerted around 1 p. m. , leading to a coordinated effort involving local law enforcement and community members. Officers searched the school grounds and expanded their efforts to nearby businesses, Capital Mall, and public transit stations as concerns grew.

The situation took a positive turn when one of the boys called 911 around 8:30 p. m. , indicating they were lost. With the assistance of dispatchers, they were guided to a nearby roadway and found safe just outside a wooded area near Kaiser Road Northwest. Police Lt.
