U. S. Rep. Marilyn Strickland has been elected as the secretary of the Congressional Black Caucus, comprised of 62 members. This election showcases the trust and support she has earned from her colleagues, highlighting her influence within the caucus.

A former mayor of Tacoma, Strickland represents Washington's 10th Congressional District, which spans from Tacoma to Olympia. In her new role, she will collaborate with notable Democratic representatives, including incoming Chair Yvette Clarke and First Vice Chair Troy Carter.
