Olympia, WALocal News

In a fortunate turn of events, a 27-year-old truck driver from Shelton escaped injury after his truck crashed into a jersey barrier on state Route 16 near Port Orchard early Friday morning. The incident occurred around 5:10 a. m. on December 6, as the driver was traveling west in his tractor-trailer. According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver lost control, swerving off the road and crashing into a jersey barrier, ultimately ending up precariously perched on it.

While the truck sustained significant damage and approximately 80 gallons of diesel spilled onto the roadway, the driver emerged unscathed. A crane was employed to remove the truck from the barrier, highlighting the complexities involved in managing road accidents with large vehicles. This incident draws attention to the hazards faced by commercial truck drivers, particularly during early morning hours, and serves as a crucial reminder for all drivers to remain vigilant and prioritize safety on the roads. The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
