Officer stabbed in hand while making arrest, Shelton police say | The Olympian

On December 5, a Shelton police officer was stabbed in the hand while attempting to apprehend a suspect wanted by the state Department of Corrections. The incident occurred around 11:30 a. m. when officers were dispatched to assist a DOC officer who had spotted the suspect on Olympic Highway North. After a foot chase, the officer was injured during the struggle to take him into custody.

Medical personnel treated the officer on-site before he was taken to Mason General Hospital, where he is expected to recover fully. The suspect has been charged with first-degree assault, resisting arrest, obstructing law enforcement, and a DOC warrant. This alarming event raises awareness about the dangers faced by police officers in the line of duty and highlights ongoing crime challenges in Shelton. Community support for law enforcement is emphasized as investigations continue, along with the need for enhanced safety measures for officers.
