Officer stabbed in hand while making arrest, Shelton police say | The Olympian

On December 5, a Shelton police officer was stabbed in the hand while attempting to apprehend a suspect wanted by the state Department of Corrections. The incident occurred around 11:30 a. m. when officers were dispatched to assist a DOC officer who had spotted the suspect on Olympic Highway North. After a foot chase, the officer was injured during the struggle to take him into custody.

Medical personnel treated the officer on-site before he was taken to Mason General Hospital, where he is expected to recover fully. The suspect has been charged with first-degree assault, resisting arrest, obstructing law enforcement, and a DOC warrant. This alarming event raises awareness about the dangers faced by police officers in the line of duty and highlights ongoing crime challenges in Shelton.
