Changes coming to Mega Millions lottery in 2025

Olympia, WALocal News

The Mega Millions lottery is set for a transformation in April 2025, introducing changes aimed at revitalizing player engagement. Ticket prices will rise to $5, marking the second price adjustment since the lottery's inception over 20 years ago. The new game format promises significantly larger jackpots, improved odds of winning, and a built-in multiplier for every ticket purchase, which means no more breakeven prizes. Joshua Johnston, Lead Director of the Mega Millions Consortium, stated that these enhancements are designed to create a thrilling experience for both veteran and new players. He anticipates these changes will lead to more billion-dollar jackpots, benefiting a wider array of winners.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington D. C. , and the U. S. Virgin Islands, with drawings held in Atlanta on Tuesdays and Fridays.

These adjustments are expected not only to increase excitement among players but also to support various charitable causes through lottery contributions, ensuring the lottery's legacy of supporting good causes continues.
