Olympia, WALocal News

A serious two-vehicle collision on Martin Way East in Olympia led to the arrest of a 32-year-old Oakville woman on suspicion of driving under the influence late Wednesday night. The incident occurred just before 10:45 p. m. and was witnessed by a Thurston County Sheriff’s deputy who reported seeing the woman driving recklessly prior to the crash. Sheriff Derek Sanders noted that the woman rear-ended another vehicle at high speed before the deputy could activate their emergency lights.

The collision resulted in extensive damage to both vehicles, which had their airbags deployed. The driver of the rear-ended vehicle suffered back soreness and received treatment on-site but was not transported to a hospital. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding impaired driving and public safety on local roads. The Olympia police are now leading the investigation into the crash following the deputy's initial response. The community is urged to remain vigilant regarding drinking and driving, especially during holiday seasons.
