The Olympia City Council is seeking applications for the vacant Position #5, previously held by Lisa Parshley, who will take her seat in the State Legislature as a representative of the 22nd District. This vacancy offers a vital opportunity for local residents to engage in city governance. Interested candidates must submit their applications electronically by 4 p. m. on December 13, including a completed application, resume, cover letter, and proof of voter registration.

Candidates must also reside within Olympia city limits. The council will review applications on January 7, 2025, interview finalists on January 13, and the new appointee will take office on January 14 during a City Council meeting, participating in the council’s annual goal-setting retreat later in January. This transition is significant as the appointee will serve until December 31, 2025, unless elected in the fall, impacting local governance and community initiatives.
