Olympia, WALocal News

South Sound Running, a prominent local retailer dedicated to runners since its inception in Olympia in 1998, is selling its Olympia and Puyallup stores to Fleet Feet Puget Sound as owners Greg Klein and Joan Marchioro prepare for retirement. This decision follows a successful tenure during which South Sound Running became known for its high-quality sportswear and commitment to community engagement through marathon training programs and organized runs. Fleet Feet, which operates other locations in Tacoma and Bonney Lake, is set to take over the two stores in January 2025, promising to uphold the legacy of service and community involvement established by South Sound Running. Klein has acknowledged the significant role their loyal customers played in their success, expressing heartfelt appreciation for them. Pannell, the owner of Fleet Feet Puget Sound, emphasized the importance of providing a welcoming space for runners and walkers of all levels.

This transition marks a significant moment for the local running community, ensuring that the tradition of support and training continues. The acquisition not only represents a change in ownership but also a commitment to maintaining the strong community ties that South Sound Running fostered over the years, allowing local runners to look forward to continued resources and events that cater to their needs.
