The Olympia City Council is initiating the selection process for a new council member to fill Position #5, vacated by Lisa Parshley as she takes on her role as a State Representative for the 22nd District in January. The appointee will serve until December 31, 2025, until the position is filled through the fall election. Interested candidates must submit their applications electronically by 4 p. m. on December 13, including a completed application form, a resume, a cover letter detailing their qualifications, and proof of voter registration.

Applications will be reviewed on January 7, with selected finalists interviewed on January 13. The new council member will be sworn in on January 14 and will participate in a goal-setting retreat from January 24-25. This is a vital opportunity for Olympia residents to engage in local governance during this transitional period. Applicants must reside within city limits to be eligible.
