Man confronts teens with handgun in downtown Olympia Sunday | The Olympian

In a concerning incident in downtown Olympia, a 28-year-old man was taken into custody after brandishing a handgun and firing a shot at four teens early Sunday morning. The Olympia police were alerted around 4 a. m. when several 911 calls reported a gunshot heard near the Intercity Transit Center. Witnesses informed officers that the teenagers had been loud and may have disturbed homeless residents by knocking down their tents.

The suspect confronted the boys with the firearm and fired a shot into the air, prompting their escape. Eventually, police located the suspect and his vehicle, where they obtained a search warrant. During the search, officers found the handgun along with narcotics. The man now faces multiple charges, including felony harassment and second-degree assault. It remains uncertain if the teenager accused of knocking down the tents will face any charges.
