Established in the 1940s, Stones’ Candy Cane Company in Lacey, Washington, grew into a holiday icon, producing nearly two million candy canes in 1949 alone. The company, founded by Russell and Rodney Stone, specialized in candy canes, which were sold to merchants across 24 states. Known for their red ribbons and six pinstripes, the candy canes captured the festive spirit and were available in various sizes. The production process involved a unique combination of heating and manual shaping, ensuring high-quality output. During peak months, the company employed a diverse workforce of 40 individuals.
They also donated broken canes to schools and hospitals, further embedding themselves in the community. The Stones showcased their products at local expos, helping to solidify their reputation. Stones’ Candy Cane Company continues to be a significant part of Lacey's holiday traditions.
