Climber Rescued After Fall on Snow Creek Wall in Leavenworth

A climber fell and injured himself on the "Outer Space" route at Snow Creek Wall in Leavenworth, prompting a rescue operation by Chelan County Search and Rescue teams on Friday evening. The man, who broke his ankle, was reported injured just after 5 p. m. Rescuers from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office used a helicopter to insert a Mountain Rescue team at the top of the route. After stabilizing the injured climber, they lowered him 800 feet to a safer extraction point.

The U. S. Army assisted in the operation by hoisting the man out with a helicopter and transporting him to Pangborn Airport in East Wenatchee. He was then taken to a hospital by Ballard Ambulance for further treatment. The rescue operation lasted approximately nine hours and involved multiple agencies working together.

Sheriff Mike Morrison praised the effective teamwork, highlighting the successful collaboration among the various responding agencies.
