The City of Leavenworth has awarded $175,000 in grants to local nonprofits aimed at enhancing tourism and benefiting community residents in 2026. The funding is divided between the Lodging Tax Fund, which allocates $125,000 for tourism-related projects, and the Leavenworth General Fund, which provides $50,000 for community-focused initiatives. This year's grant cycle received a strong response, with 51 applications submitted, leading to 38 projects being deemed eligible for funding. The City Council approved the recommendations of the Economic Development Committee during its meeting on Nov. 12.

Notable recipients include the Cascade Choir Crescendo Campaign and the 2026 Cascade Celtic Festival, highlighting diverse community initiatives. The city acknowledges the positive impact of nonprofits in strengthening local ties. The funding supports projects within the lodging tax boundary, emphasizing tourism's role in the local economy.
