U.S. Forest Service and partners invite community on public forest tour

On May 29, a public forest tour will highlight restoration efforts on U. S. Forest Service land around Lake Wenatchee, organized by local partners including Chelan County and Cascadia Conservation District. Participants will witness firsthand logging operations and learn about firewood harvest opportunities and community safety measures like fuel breaks. The tour will depart from Lake Wenatchee Rec Club at 4 p.

m. and return by 6 p. m. , visiting sites like Meadow Creek and the Chiwawa River Pines. For those unable to attend the tour, a presentation will be held at the Squirrel Tree from 6:30 p.

m. to 7:30 p. m. , offering a chance to interact with project representatives. This effort aims to enhance community engagement in local forest management practices.

Such initiatives are vital for promoting awareness of forest health and safety in the region. The collaboration between various organizations underscores the importance of collective action in environmental stewardship.
