Caroline Menna of Cascade High School has been awarded the title of 2025 National Merit Scholar, a distinction given to only 6,900 students nationwide. This recognition includes a $2,500 scholarship, which Menna attributes to the unwavering support of her family and school staff. The National Merit Scholarship Program, established in 1955, recognizes high-achieving students based on their PSAT/NMSQT scores. Superintendent Tracey Edou commended Menna for her exceptional leadership, athleticism, and writing skills, noting her recruitment to ski race for Dartmouth College. At Dartmouth, she plans to pursue a career in science journalism and contribute to the school's historic student-run newspaper.

The program ultimately awards nearly $26 million in scholarships each year, showcasing the significance of academic excellence. Menna expressed hope that her classmates will also receive national accolades in the future, reflecting the strong academic environment at Cascade High School. Her achievements highlight the potential for students in North Central Washington to excel academically.
