Royal Ladys new parade float makes sweet debut

Leavenworth's new parade float, themed “Treat Yourself to Leavenworth,” was unveiled on April 23, showcasing a playful design with gumdrops and a six-foot-tall ice cream cone. The float will represent the city at 11 festivals across Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia, where the Royal Lady of the Autumn Leaves, Sandy Houston, will participate. Myndi Graham and the Bradshaws led the float's design, focusing on a whimsical approach to celebrate the city's spirit. The unveiling included a lively chicken dance, reflecting the community's enthusiasm for the event. Former Royal Lady Linda Bradshaw remarked, “We wanted to be more whimsical this year, and just have fun with the float.

” This year’s festivals will culminate in Leavenworth's Autumn Leaf Festival in September, further promoting local culture. The float took two months to build and includes a smaller float designed for distant festivals. The community's involvement and excitement highlight the importance of local traditions in enhancing Leavenworth's visibility in the region.
