Juvenile driver arrested after vehicle theft

Chelan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a juvenile driver Monday morning after pursuing a stolen vehicle reported missing from Monroe, WA. The vehicle was spotted on Highway 2, and despite attempts to stop it, the driver fled onto Gill Creek Road, which ended in a dead end. Deputies quickly established a containment area and deployed a drone, which successfully located the suspects as they exited the vehicle. The drone footage allowed officers to communicate with the suspects, leading to their apprehension without further incident. The passenger of the vehicle, unaware it was stolen, was transported to a Crisis Residential Center while awaiting parental pickup.

The driver was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, attempt to elude, and possession of stolen property in the third degree. This incident highlights the effective use of technology by law enforcement to ensure a safe resolution. The vehicle will be returned to its rightful owner.
