Dangerous Women, a women's history and arts collaborative based in Leavenworth, has secured a $12,000 matching grant from Icicle Fund to support the development of a new original theater production. The show, tentatively titled "Force of Nature," is set to premiere in 2026 and aims to explore humanity's relationship with the natural world through a lens of pageantry and diverse cultural perspectives. Rhona Baron, the group's Creative Director, expressed excitement about the two-year funding, which will provide the necessary security for the creative process. The collective has a rich history, having staged four original productions since 2016, including the recent "Unsettled," which highlighted Indigenous, Latina, Caucasian, and African American narratives. They are collaborating with organizations like Wenatchee River Salmon Fest and Chelan Douglas Land Trust to ensure scientific accuracy and community insight in their storytelling.

Despite pending grant notifications from ArtsWA for fiscal year 2026, the collective remains optimistic about their future projects. Michelle Tiegel from Icicle Fund shared her enthusiasm for what Dangerous Women will accomplish next. The organization invites participation from interested individuals beyond Washington State, emphasizing community engagement in the arts.
