The second annual 'Women in Powder' event at Stevens Pass, held on March 29-30, 2025, marked a significant leap in participation, with over 100 attendees compared to last year’s 50. This free weekend event aimed to empower women in snow sports by providing opportunities for skill development and community building. Participants enjoyed workshops led by Stevens Pass ambassadors and engaged in discussions featuring industry experts. Notably, Annette Diggs, a ski instructor and founder of EDGE Outdoors, emphasized the importance of diverse representation in making mountain culture feel like home for everyone. Christie Burrow, a design engineer at K2 Skis, highlighted her efforts to create women's specific ski gear, addressing historical design flaws that have marginalized women's needs.
Attendee Shaquita Young shared her connection with the panelists, stating that their experiences resonated with her journey in the military. The event not only celebrated women's achievements but also aimed to inspire future generations to break barriers in the outdoor sports industry. Overall, the 'Women in Powder' event exemplified a growing movement to promote inclusivity and empowerment among women in snow sports.
