Councilmember Robert (Bob) Francis has officially announced his resignation from the Leavenworth City Council, effective August 23, 2016. Appointed by Mayor Robert Eaton in 2008 and then elected in 2009 and 2013, Francis made significant contributions to various committees, including Public Safety and Finance. He is recognized for enhancing the relationship between the city and its community, a point he emphasized in his farewell. His previous role as a Chelan County Sheriff’s Office officer provided him with a deep understanding of public service. The city will initiate the process to fill his vacant council position, allowing residents to submit letters of interest.

Washington law mandates that the city council appoint a replacement within 90 days of a vacancy. Interested candidates must be registered voters and have lived in the city for at least one year. Additional information regarding the application process will be posted on the city’s website next week.
