Bavarian (Leavenworth) Substation Update

Leavenworth, WALocal News

The Chelan County PUD is working closely with Leavenworth and Chelan/Manson communities to identify potential sites for a new substation, a necessity driven by local growth since 2015. Recently, Site 3 in Leavenworth was removed from consideration, but a new opportunity has arisen with a property owner in Rattlesnake Hills expressing interest in selling land for this purpose. Community engagement has been a cornerstone of the selection process, with several meetings held to discuss site options and gather public feedback. The PUD’s consultant will evaluate financial implications and design renderings for the substations at the identified locations. In the Chelan-Manson area, analyses will also proceed on two properties near Boyd Loop Road and Winesap Avenue.

The PUD is committed to transparency and plans to host another community meeting in February 2017 to share insights and solicit additional input. Residents are encouraged to participate and voice their opinions through various channels, including a public comment form on the PUD's website. For detailed updates on the Bavarian substation project, community members can visit the PUD's dedicated webpage.
