New Flat Fee to Start Friday at Leavenworth Drop-Off Brush Site

Leavenworth, WALocal News

Starting Friday, May 1, 2020, Chelan County will implement a flat fee system at the Leavenworth brush site, catering exclusively to residents in the Apple Maggot Quarantine Area. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance public health safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Chelan County commissioners enacted this change following an Emergency Declaration in March 2020, which emphasized the need for adjusted services to protect both employees and the public. The brush site will only accept cash or checks, and attendants will not provide change, facilitating safer transactions. Open from 8 a.

m. to 3 p. m. on Fridays, the site is designated for individuals living outside Leavenworth city limits. Residents can check their eligibility through a searchable map from the Washington State Department of Agriculture.

This move not only simplifies the payment process but also reinforces the county's commitment to public health. By implementing these measures, Chelan County aims to ensure the safety of its residents while providing essential services.
