Leavenworth, WALocal News

The Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) has awarded nearly $1. 95 million to the City of Leavenworth for various transportation improvement projects slated for 2024. A recent assessment revealed that the city's streets rank among the worst in Washington, highlighting the urgent need for upgrades. The TIB, in collaboration with the City, has devised a comprehensive plan to address these roadway deficiencies through a multi-faceted approach. The funding will specifically support a scrub seal project, which aims to preserve existing roads, curb ramp improvements for ADA compliance, and essential street maintenance.

Each project is designed to minimize disruption for residents while significantly enhancing local infrastructure. Deputy Public Works Director Andi Zontek-Backstrum emphasized the transformative potential of this funding, stating it allows the city to implement its new Pavement Preservation Program. The collaborative efforts between TIB and the City demonstrate a commitment to improving transportation conditions. Overall, these projects mark a significant step forward in addressing Leavenworth's pressing infrastructure needs.
