Stop at Icicle Creek put-in dropped from the Citys free-to-ride river shuttle due to low river flows

Leavenworth, WALocal News

The City of Leavenworth has announced a significant change to its river shuttle service, effective this weekend. The shuttle will no longer stop at the Icicle Creek put-in due to low river flows, which are detrimental to local fish species. This decision comes alongside rising temperatures and increased recreational traffic, prompting a shift in focus to the Wenatchee River, which provides a better floating experience this time of year. Despite the changes, the free-to-ride river shuttle will continue to operate from the public boat ramp on East Leavenworth Road to the Wenatchee River put-in. It is crucial for users to be aware that parking at the Wenatchee location is extremely limited, and any vehicles parked illegally could be ticketed or towed.

Recreators are encouraged to drop off their gear and crew at the Wenatchee put-in and designate a driver to return to the takeout. As always, the city emphasizes the importance of responsible recreation to ensure safety and enjoyment for everyone involved. These changes aim to balance recreational use with environmental conservation, highlighting the city's commitment to protecting local wildlife.
