Update on City-Wide Roadway Surfacing Projects

The City of Leavenworth is embarking on a street maintenance project beginning the week of September 9, 2024, managed by Central Paving. This essential work will involve crack sealing and pavement repair, with an emphasis on the downtown area first before extending to residential neighborhoods. A clear right-of-way will be mandatory, prohibiting vehicles on the roadways to prevent towing at the owner's expense. The contractor will notify residents with "No Parking" signage and door hangers at least 48 hours in advance of the work. Additionally, the scrub seal project will start on August 26, focusing on asphalt patching and pre-leveling, with minimal disruption expected to traffic flows.

However, on-street parking will be restricted for several days during the scrub seal work. The timeline for both projects is contingent upon contractor scheduling and may change as necessary. Residents are encouraged to contact Andi Zontek-Backstrum, the Interim Public Works Director, for any questions or concerns.

Notable initiatives include the "Shop with a Cop" program, which received $10,300 to support children during the holidays. The foundation continues to accept grant applications every two months.
