Cascade High School Freshman beats record for most 3-point shots in one season

Leavenworth, WALocal News

Cascade High School freshman Lola Rieke has shattered the record for the most 3-point shots in a single season, achieving an impressive total of 56 shots, surpassing the previous record of 49 held by Megan Franza since 1996. Rieke attributed her success to the countless hours of practice and the unwavering support from her father, who encouraged her to strive for greatness. After a challenging game where she felt defeated, Rieke bounced back and tied the record in a crucial game against Royal High School, ultimately breaking it shortly thereafter. Her achievement was celebrated with a presentation during a winter assembly, surprising her teammates and underscoring the camaraderie within the team. The CHS girls' varsity basketball team has shown remarkable improvement, winning 15 games this season after a difficult period that saw them win only one game two seasons ago.

Coach Cody Bench believes Rieke's record serves as a source of inspiration for younger players, urging them to work hard and aim for their own successes. The resurgence of the team and Rieke's individual accomplishment highlight the dedication and resilience of the athletes involved. As they look to the future, Bench hopes to maintain this momentum for continued success in the program.
