In a proactive response to the financial strain brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Carl Florea of Leavenworth announced the disbursement of seven Working Washington Small Business Emergency Grants. These grants, made possible through a partnership with Chelan County and the Washington Department of Commerce, aim to support small businesses on the brink of closure. A total of 37 local businesses were selected from over 600 applications, highlighting the competitive nature of this funding opportunity. Each grant provides up to $5,000 to help businesses like A Book for All Seasons and Bavarian Village Chocolates navigate the ongoing economic challenges. Mayor Florea expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that led to securing these funds, emphasizing the critical role of small businesses in municipal revenue.

He reiterated the need for further advocacy and resources for the local business community in discussions with Congresswoman Schrier. The city council is dedicated to working closely with the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce to ensure the sustainability of local enterprises.
