City of Leavenworth to Soft Launch Downtown Parking Meters

Leavenworth, WALocal News

The City of Leavenworth is preparing to soft launch its downtown parking meters on September 20, 2021, following their installation in 2020, which had been delayed due to the pandemic. This soft launch will allow the city to iron out any issues in the parking system while giving residents and visitors time to adjust. During this period, the city will enforce existing paid parking lots but will issue warning notices instead of fines for metered street parking violations. A new permit program has been implemented to provide local workers with parking options, anticipating high demand for these permits. The city has partnered with ParkMobile to offer a contactless payment solution, allowing users to easily manage their parking via a smartphone app.

This initiative reflects the city's commitment to improving local infrastructure and enhancing the visitor experience. Communication efforts will include outreach to businesses, social media updates, and local news distribution to ensure widespread awareness. By modernizing the parking system, the City of Leavenworth aims to create a more efficient parking environment for both locals and tourists.
