Pool closure due to fecal incident City of Leavenworth

Leavenworth, WALocal News

In response to an accidental fecal release incident, the City of Leavenworth has announced the immediate closure of its pool. The closure will last throughout July 18, 2024, resulting in the cancellation of that evening's swim meet. On July 19, the pool will remain closed for all swim lessons and programs, allowing time for thorough disinfection. The city plans to reopen the pool on July 20 at noon, although this timeline may be adjusted depending on the disinfection process's success. This proactive measure is vital for safeguarding the health and safety of patrons, as it helps to eliminate germs and prevent Recreational Water Illnesses (RWIs).

The city appreciates the community's understanding during this inconvenience and encourages residents to reach out with any questions. For more information, residents can call the pool or email the city’s pool management team. The city remains committed to ensuring a safe recreational environment for all.
