The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has announced a temporary closure of US 2 Tumwater Canyon west of Leavenworth on September 25, aimed at conducting vital pre-winter maintenance. The closure will take place from 8 a. m. to 3 p. m.

and includes essential activities such as hazard tree removal, shoulder and ditch clearing, and guardrail and pavement repairs. During this time, passenger vehicles will be directed to detour via Chumstick Highway, while freight traffic requiring access east of Leavenworth will need to take I-90 to US 97. WSDOT stresses the importance of safety for both crews and the public, urging all travelers—including bicyclists and pedestrians—to stay clear of the closure area.
