Advocates for workforce development gathered in Olympia to promote the Economic Security for All (EcSA) program, which has made significant strides in connecting Washington residents to job training and employment opportunities since its establishment in 2024. The initiative specifically targets traditionally underserved communities, including rural populations and BIPOC individuals, aiming to foster economic independence. Led by SkillSource CEO Lisa Romine, the delegation met with state legislators, including Representatives Mike Steele and Senators Judy Warnick, to share impactful personal success stories from program participants, Mima Cole and James Moore. The Washington Workforce Association has prioritized enhancing the EcSA program, highlighting the need for increased service levels and streamlined administration to maximize its effectiveness. Program officials emphasize the importance of aligning existing workforce initiatives to improve employment outcomes across the state.

With the support of organizations like the Association of Washington Business, SkillSource aims to bolster advocacy efforts throughout the legislative session. The EcSA program not only connects skilled individuals with employers but also provides crucial training and credentials for those seeking better economic prospects. This legislative engagement is part of the annual 2025 Legislative Day and Hill Climb initiative, which unites workforce development stakeholders and lawmakers.
